Mount Yamnuska

Well, that confident strong feeling I had climbing to the Barrier Lake Fire Lookout seems to have disappeared on Mount Yamnuska. This was a tough hike and I'm so glad Erica was able to come with me ( along with Joe, Karen, Dana, Lenora and Donna.) The terrain was mainly treacherous. It was a very steep descent on precarious footing. 😓Crossing chains😣. The funnest part was skiing the scree. I wish I had taken a picture of that.  But my black boots are now white. ☹

Trail marker we walked right over. Camouflage much?

I am the crazy blue thing crossing the crazy chains.

There was a curious green mist in the valley. My windshield of my car was coated with it as well.

At the summit. We reached the summit just as an electrical storm was passing through. Joe felt shocks from his hiking poles. Needless to say, we didn't linger...

Coming down was scary. It was steep and the ground was hard packed with tiny round pebbles on it. Every step was a potential slide-out-fall-on-you-butt kind of hazard. Then we came to the scree. It was fun. I want to market a tee-shirt that says "I skied the scree" on the front and "Yamnuska" on the back. Even though this hike was only 10 km, it seemed way longer. I got a bit of toe-bang coming down the steep part. And my feet hurt the next morning with shooting pains in the balls of my feet. But it was a fun hike. At the very least I had my daily dose of danger.
