Pathway closed due to flooding

I have been doing little 5 km hikes with my pack, just down to the river and back. This morning I wanted to add a little more mileage. In order to do a 75 km trail in 6 days, we will need to hike about 12.5 km/day. So I wanted to test out my strength on a longer hike. I set off toward Fish Creek Park. I soon ran into this.
I just walked around it and kept going until I came to this.
Seriously? I started playing with memes.

I had to bushwack through some trees and I got around it. This is the other side looking back.

And a few hundred yards down the path...
Around km 4, my feet started to hurt. Like shooting pains in the balls of my foot. With every step. I took my boots off and stretched my feet out and put them back on and cranked it on very tightly. I was still uncomfortable, but I was able to walk. My feet had hurt a little on Yamnuska but I attributed it to the steep descent. Maybe I'm going to need some different boots for the WCT.
The wild roses are fantastic this year. This bush was covered.
In the end, I had Lincoln come pick me up at km 9 or I would have missed an appointment I had. I would have made the appointment but I ran into Dana on the trail and we chatted for "a bit".
My back and shoulders felt fine on this 9 km hike. My feet had issues. Also, I was hiking on paved paths except for the bushwacking. The WCT will be mud, sand, boardwalk and ladders. I worry about me.
